With the rapid growth in the numbers of android users many developers making apps for mobile devices have started developing apps for android. As you can add Google ads even to apps you create many developers are earning good amount of money from developing apps. There are many guides to teach you how to develop apps for various android devices but I cant find a good guide to setup the SDK offline and start developing apps. So in this post I will be showing you step by step how to install android 4.0.3 ICS SDK for developing apps for android.
As you are installing android sdk offline you have download few packages and keep them ready before you start your installation.
List of Packages to be downloaded:
- latest version of jdk(87 MB)
- Eclipse(174 MB)
- Eclipse ADT(12 MB)
- Core Android SDK Tools(37 MB)
- Android SDK platform 4.0.3(42 MB)
- Android SDK platform tools (10 MB)
All the above are the basic packages you must have to develop basic android apps. If you want to develop more advanced apps or use more tools you can download extra packages. You can check the name of the extra packages from this webpage and download it from here.
Once you have downloaded all the basic packages and extra packages which you like to give a try then first install latest version of jdk from the downloaded exe file. Then open eclipse from the package you have already downloaded. Go to Help>Install New software.
Click on archive and browse the ADT file you have downloaded. Click next next and finish installing ADT.
Now install the core Android SDK tools exe file. If you have downloaded zip version, extract it and copy it in your Program Files under Android folder.
Create a folder named platform tools and copy the platform tools package in it and then create a folder platform and copy the Android Platform package into it. Now you are done with the basic setup of android SDK. You can also add the extra tools to your SDK in the hierarchy shown in the below picture
That’s it your SDK is ready and you can start creating android apps now. Open up your eclipse and show your creativity.
If you face any problems setting up SDK do tell us where you are struck, I will try to solve your problem.

Hi Sumanth ! Thanks for your good work. Bro, could you please provide me another help. Could you please unpack the sysimg_armv7a-15_r01.zip, pack it into a .rar file, then protect archive from damage (by pressing Alt+P) and put it in this page so that my downloader doesn’t corrupt the file while downloading. I would be extremely grateful if you do so. I am using quite an unreliable internet connection and everytime I download the file, it gets corrupted and I am unable to install it. Please help me.
