The Samsung Galaxy S3 remains to be one of the hottest Android phones on the market. Last month Samsung Electronic reported record profits thanks to the G3, with the South Korean company estimating an income of £4.5 billion between July and September.
The phone has since retained the crown of the UK’s most popular smartphone, in spite of the recent iPhone 5 release/ According to the latest Mobile Tracker report from uSwitch, figures for handset pre-orders and sales have found that despite the mass excitement surrounding the iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has remained the UK’s leading handset.

This is, unquestionably, a brilliant phone. But one thing many people don’t consider before they buy, and is rarely addressed by reviewers, is durability.
A quick look online and it’s not hard to find a variety of drop tests available. However a few people have decided to go the extra mile and have illustrated extreme ways in which to destroy a S3 until there is little left, all in the name of science of course.
I have selected the most creative and destructive videos online which puts the S3 under a real test of durability. Remember don’t try any of these at home!
1. The Drop Test
This video by Gizmo isn’t your average phone drop test and unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot of good news for the phone! After several standard drop tests from 4 feet, the ending is truly worth the wait, as the S3 is blown to pieces.
2. Hot rod
This group of Russians decided to take a different approach to testing the Galaxy S3’s capabilities by strapping it to a racing car engine. After a few laps around the track the device is clearly a little worse for wear after a little extreme welding.
3. Will it blend?
Saving the best till last, what could be better than watching a Galaxy S3 take on the iPhone 5 in a slow motion blender competition? Both go head-to-head to see which is the first to turn to dust, and it is the S3 that takes a hammering before finally disappearing into a mix of black smoke and ash.
Advice – Always use protection
While I’m sure the vast majority of people will never have to invest in a replacement phone due to engine or bomb damage, it’s always best keep your phone well protected from everyday drops and falls with a protective cover or case!
